It has just been announced that Tom Walkinshaw has passed away at the age of 64 after a battle with cancer.

Farewell Tom and thanks for the racing.

TWR Jaguars among my all time favorites. Especially the Silk Cut Le Mans winners.

Sad news. He will be missed. It's a shame his racing efforts hit the financial shoals.

I was a big fan of Jag's Group C cars, too.

I'm sure he fought right to the bitter end, as was his style. RIP TW.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone throw an XJS around like that...did you see him on two wheels?  Great driver.

RIP Tom.

Remember the 1994 BTCC series with the TWR Volvo estate? - amazing!

RIP Tom.  Never really remembered much about him other than him owning Arrows but still it is a sad loss.

Just read that Porsche was looking for something to run at LeMans in the mid '90s, and asked TWR to build it. TWR took a spare XJR14 that had not been raced, cut the roof off (to comply with the WSC rules, think Ferrari 333SP) installed a 956 twin turbo 6 and turned it over to Porsche. For whatever reason, Porsche decided not to run the car, (probably not invented here syndrome) but Joest convinced Porsche to give it to them. Joest used it to win in '96 and '97. Joest built a copy sister car, but it was the TWR car that won. So TWR Jags won 3 times and TWR Porsches won twice. Not bad.

Here is a link to the Holden Racing Team's announcment. Tom was the owner of the factory team which competes in the V8 Supercars in Australia.
I can't think of anything to write here.
