F1- Rivals reject customer car compromise - report

A meeting of team principals last Friday failed to produce a solution to F1's escalating 'customer car' row.

Spyker is leading the threat to take Toro Rosso and Super Aguri to arbitration over their controversial plans this year to race cars that arguably they did not exclusively design.

'Motorsport Aktuell' reports that F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone on Friday waded into the argument with a compromise, which was rejected.

The contentious issue might not now come to a head until scrutineering for the season opening Australian grand prix, where a protest could compel stewards to deem as illegal the cars in question.

It is a bit late in the day to ban them surely?
