Petrov Signs Two Year Deal
« on: December 22, 2010, 03:25:18 PM »
Vitaly Petrov has signed a two year deal to stay on at Renault (Lotus-Renault, Benetton, Whatever).

I thought he showed promise this past season. I'm glad he gets the chance to carry on.

Absolutely.  I'm glad for him, but it closes another door for available drivers.

This is more about his sponsor backing than his own ablity, in my opinion Genii have been delaying to make sure they got the most out of any backers. I hope they don't look back at the end of the year with regret, if Robert ships out for Ferrari or Red Bull they may not be able to find a front runner to replace him, I'm not sure Petrov can carry the team and a rookie.

He deserves it, I'm sure Alonso will be first in line to congratulate him... :DD

Maybe Petrov will have, "Hola, Ferd!" painted on the back of his rear wing.

That will be «Привет Алонсо» in Russian. ;-)

Any way, I am happy to see him for another year or two. Hope he can grow into a resonable driver who can at least stay close to Kubica.

There's more than a few NON-pay drivers who have been crap this year as well...at least Petrov had some impressive moments, and having his rear wing in front of Alonso for the last 10 laps of the season was reason enough to re-sign him if you ask me.
