Suzuki thrilled with Yamamoto’s GP2 drive
« on: January 25, 2007, 01:31:33 AM »
Sakon Yamamoto, the 2006 Super Aguri F1 Team test and race driver, has signed up with BCN Competicion for the 2007 GP2 series. It will be a frantic season for the Japanese driver because as well as racing for the Spanish squad, he will also carry on as test driver for the fledgling F1 team.

“I am very happy that it has been decided that Super Aguri F1 Team’s second test driver Sakon Yamamoto will participate for GP2 Series for BCN COMPETICION for the 2007 season,” said Aguri Suzuki. “I think that this series which doubles with a support race of Formula One is very competitive and hope that Sakon will shine in this new category.”

Sakon is also thrilled about challenging in such a competitive category and plans to do as much as he can to ensure a strong season. He is also looking forward to driving a GP2 car for the first time at an upcoming testing session.

The Stig
