Following two moderately successful years in Formula One, Red Bull Racing will be aiming even higher in 2007, as the team hopes to secure more points finishes, more podiums, and aim to close the gargantuan gap to the leaders. The team ran their 2007 challenger, the RB3, officially for the first time on Friday, and they hope their first Newey-designed car will build a stable base for championship success in the future.
Speaking to Formula One's official website, Red Bull boss Dietrich Mateschitz stated that the marketing targets had been met, thanks to the Energy Station, the Formula Unas and the Red Bulletin, and that the next step was to achieve sporting success. To follow this through, Red Bull has made major investment. “We doubled our budget, our people, updated our wind tunnels and, last but not least, asked Adrian Newey to join the team,“ said the Red Bull boss.
The big aim for Red Bull in 2007 though is to achieve a number of podiums, along with a very ambitious fifth place in the constructors' standings. “We expect a podium here and there, and number five in the constructors' championship,“ revealed the Austrian. With Toyota, Honda, BMW and Williams all aiming to finish fifth or higher in 2007, many people believe that the mid-field will be the venue for very close racing in 2007.
Mid-Field should be something to watch this year!
