He did have some sort of credentials around his neck (maybe just a ticket, but, maybe something else).  My guess is that he is a scooter driver bringing drinks or something to the marshalls, who just happened to be at the right/wrong place at the right/wrong time, so he thought he'd jump over and give the boys a hand for the thrill of it.

But I have to say again, I guess those marshalls will all lose their chance to ever do it again.  They should not have been on the track at all at that moment.  They should only have gone out after the last car went through after the SC.   :fool: :fool:

That's the purpose of the vests (bibs). It makes it instantly obvious what group you're with (marshal, scrutineer, photog, etc.) and what areas you're allowed into. Like Ali, I wounder who he really was & why he was there. Maybe a souvenir hunter after a bit of carbon fiber.

Certainly too 'large framed' to climb the fence, so any other way in he'd have to get past some security.

someone as dainty on his feet surely wouldn't have a problem
sneaking past security

Keeping in mind this is CANADA.  Our main line of defense is saying 'please/s'il vous plait' and 'thank you/merci'.

Someone once broke into our Prime Minister's house.  The interloper was in the house for 30 minutes before the PM's wife called the RCMP 'guarding' them.  It then took a further 7 minutes to respond to the attempted assasination.

Surely defending the Grand Prix against false marshalls isn't nearly as stringent.

What was that film "Fat men can't run"?

Oh! No it was "White men can't jump".  ;)

Oh no, I beg to differ.  There are FAR more people who would like to find a way into a marshall's station at a GP than any that would bother breaking into the Canadian PM's house.  Security is likely MUCH tougher at the GP.  ;)

Good one F1 Scott.

I for one would much rather get near an F1 race then the current Canadian PM.
