Your favourite circuit?
« on: July 02, 2011, 06:06:35 PM »
Anyone have an all time favourite circuit, or a circuit where you think F1 should go?
Mine has to be Spa and as for somewhere I'd like F1 to visit but doesn't? Well two old circuits, the Nordschleife and Brands GP circuit spring to mind, oh and Watkins Glen

I'd go for the Glen. Sadly, it's too much "out in the middle of nowhere" for a modern F1 race. They need to get a race back at Indy.

I would have two favs, Spa & Interlagos. The later might just clinch it.

Spa, but without the new chicane. I never liked the Bus Stop but it was better than the new one. I would love to see them at Laguna Seca. Imagine the speed down the hill from the Corkscrew to the Hairpin! Second choice, Elkhart Lake, but it too is out in the country. I've seen them at The Glen, very impressive up the hill through the big esses. Sorry Cossie, their will have to be a change at FOM I think before F1 returns to Indy. And if Austin is successful that will make it a dead issue I fear.

I would say the Nurburgring, the old one, known as the green hell, which tormented man and machine to its core, and seen true champions hail beyond doubts and arguments.

I agree 100% and now I'm going to go play some Nurburgring on the PC.  :good:

No worries about Austin. If it even happens, it will be remembered along with the Hindenburg and the Titanic. A boring track with 12 hour traffic jams in 100 degree plus heat in a area that is downright hostile to racing. (Austin is far, far more Prius than Porsche.) I'll guess that the tickets will be at least 3 times the price as tickets to the last Indy GP. I know that the few hotel rooms will be many times the price of the ones at Indy.

My favourite track is Spa. A wonderful flowing circuit that nearly always produces an interesting race with lots of surprises.

I curse and swear at Nordschleif on GT5, but it's still great.
