Fascinating. Long discussion with Stewart about the 'Ring, while he's driving round it in a Rolls. Cevert talks about seeing Rindt crash, Hailwood talks about trying to pull Reggazoni from a burning car. Such a contrast with today. Unbelievable lack of safety. And for those of you who get rhapsodic about the sound of today's engines, the sound of proper V8s and V12s

Oh and a few minutes of Cevert frolicking on a topless beach with some nubile lasses. ;)

I was struck by the calm, matter-of-fact way that Hailwood describes the incident. He could almost have been talking about a trip to the mailbox. It's such a contrast to the film of the incident that follows.

Dare, just read a review about the film and it says that the film contains footage of the death of Tom Pryce. Is that true?

Ok, I have watched the whole of it. Lots of racing footage, but it cuts without warning or comment from one circuit to another. At about the 2/3s point it goes to a long montage of overlapped and color shifted race footage accompanied by some obnoxious music. This ends with graphic footage of Roger Williamson crashing at Zandvoort in a March. This is the crash David Purley stopped to try to save Williamson, but the extinguisher was useless and the marshalls no help whatsoever. A decent piece, some of the interviews are quite interesting, I give it 4 of 5.
