Carabante out of HRT
« on: July 19, 2011, 09:07:26 PM »
Thesan Capital, new owner of HRT, reset the whole structure of Formula 1-team HRT. The Spanish media say that Thesan got rid of former owner José Ramón Carabante and his son Joseph. Also Alba Saiz, head communication, should have left.

Thesan also doesn't want the team to be referred to as 'Hispania' but only as 'HRT'.

Last but not least the rumours go that Vitantônio Liuzzi will be replaced shortly for the Spanish WTCC-driver Javier Villa.

It sounds like they're really cleaning house. I wonder if the name "change" indicates a possible move. Sad to see Liuzzi go.

Carabante will hardly be missed seeing how he never seemed to have the right funding or development in place, despite being a wealthy & successful businessman.

Is a financial institution the right group to be running an f1 team though?

My first thought is, No! However, I thought the same thing back in 2005 about a soft drink company taking over an F1 team.

Difference is though Red Bull sponsored a team for 10 years before that, as far as I know Thesan capital haven't.  I feel they may be in it for a quick buck and sell to someone maybe less suitable than Jose Ramon.  Thats not a slur on Jose Ramon, just that the team hasn't exactly bloomed and blossomed under his leadership.

Thesan wants the team to be called HRT? I'm sorry if he doesn't understand the connotations of that phrase in English, but I will have to decline his request out of politeness...

Why? Hampton Roads Transit is a fine bus line.  ;)

That reminds me of the Chevy Nova. No one at GM stopped to think that, in Spanish, "No va" means "It won't go."

Yeah it was a 1984 Y reg.  Replaced in 1990 by a second hand sherpa.

I have a feeling thing will improve for HRT.  I know they are getting a few dollars from Red Bull to take Daniel Ricciardo, but I can't help but feel they have two proper racing drivers now, two guys with some talent, and with a little push and little investment won't be the embarasment they have been.
