Will silence reign on grids in future?

Probably, if young 'Greenpower' boffins progress their already advanced ideas.

Bernie may be speaking for a lot of us by being anti electric, but the next generation may see things quite differently.

Gee it's tough for us old uns being so set in our ways.  :(  Hope the youngsters keep going for it though.  :good:

It is only natural.

The 'sound of F1' is really the sound of wasted energy.  I'm sure there are plenty of technicians over the years who have bemoand that extra power being used to give fans a thrill rather than their engines a win.

This has become a more serious problem. Many people, including Blind Pedestrians have complained they can't hear Hybrids or EVs coming. Toyota among others is experimenting   with adding an artificial engine sound to the Prius.

There shouldn't be any pedestrians on a race track, blind or otherwise

However, if the world changes so that all cars are 'silent' they will be easier to hear.  A Prius isn't really silent, but it just can't be heard because of the sounds of other cars, but once other cars sound like a Prius, the problem will be easier to solve.  Until then, drivers should keep any eye out for pedestrians, and use the horn as a warning, no matter what your engine is.

My hope is that series like this will become big, but not replace f1. That there will always be the ear piercing scream of an f1 engine, but with another race run the same weekend of equal speed, only complete green power
