Van der Garde out of luck
« on: January 31, 2007, 05:02:33 PM »
Super Aguri Honda third driver Giedo van der Garde joined the team on track in Spain today driving the SA06 B-04 to accrue the necessary mileage required for his FIA Super License application.

Unfortunately a mechanical issue with the car curtailed his running prematurely.

It is hoped that there will be enough circuit time available tomorrow to facilitate qualifying for his Super License.

Takuma Sato's testing programme in the interim car comprised continued analysis of the Bridgestone Potenza tyres and control systems development. This progress was hampered however by the unusually inclement Spanish weather.

Sato completed 37 laps and was 14th fastest while van der Garde completed just four timed laps.

Anthony Davidson will take over the test driving duties tomorrow from Sato.

Hope he gets it......

The Stig
