Why There Isn't A British Space Program.
« on: August 25, 2011, 01:15:26 PM »
Would you want to be sitting on top of a zillion gallons of rocket fuel, look down at the ignition switch, and see the name Lucas on it?  :swoon:

(This joke was brought to you courtesy of my friend Noel, who rode British motorcycles for many years.)

There are many of those jokes, like "Why do the Brits drink warm beer? Lucas Refrigerators."

Quite a few of us Brits thank God for poor refrigeration,  :D  we prefer our Ale without the chill.   :P

There are a million of them:

I have a t-shirt with the old Lucas logo and a quote from Sir Harry Lucas: "A gentleman doesn't go motoring about after dark."

Too right John, nothing worse than chilled ale, rather than that yellow fizzy lemonade elsewhere in the world the call beer.  :tease:

The real reason you Brits drink warm ale is it's never really hot enough over there to actually need a cold drink!

When you come to visit us in the hot summer weather I'll serve you up a nice cold one and you'll see what summer living is all about!  :tease:

It don't matter how hot it is CD, I'll still stick to ale, at the right temperature, not chilled.  :P

Ian and Neil keep saying bring on the hot weather, you haven't lived
until you go several months with no rain and 90f with high humidity

Then we'd hear give me a good ol ice cold beer or a glass
of iced tea ;)

Warm beer, the real reason the British Empire crumbled.  :tease:

You people talk about heat. :P It was 108 with rain in the afternoon here yesterday, and 115 in Phoenix. What you have is just a warm spring day. ;)

Amen to that, Dare. I'll take a dry 115 in Phoenix over a soupy 100 around here any time.

A scientific study showed that beer should be stored at 3 degrees celcius as this maintains the beer and stops it degrading but it should be drunk between 15 and 18 degrees celcius as in this temperature range you can actually taste it!!

A friend called round to see me and I offered him a beer, a cold one or proper beer?
He said come on give me one of your rubbish English beers so I gave him a ambient Speckled Hen and not only did he enjoy it he came back for more!

The proof is in the tasting.

I had a friend (neighbour) come over a few weeks ago and he liked the cold beers so much he felt the need to stay overnight at my house. Didn't even want to walk home!
