Can DRS make Monza race as close as this?
« on: September 07, 2011, 12:20:43 AM »

Just 0.61 secs covered top 5 at 1971 Monza Italian GP, wow that's close racing.

Good to see a balding older guy, Peter Gethin, won out over the young chargers -Ronnie Peterson & Francois Cevert, ;) also rans were Mike Hailwood with Howden Ganley about a car length behind him.
Sorry no commentary on the vid, only fierce racing from the top 5 lap after lap. :D

John, thats a good one but the 69 Italian was
my favorite, maybe because JS won it

Unfortunately that can't happen without a big rules change. The cars can't follow that closely around the Parabolica and they have those STUPID chicanes after the pits and before the Lesmos.  >:D

I agree, Lonny. Those two chicanes are almost as bad as the two in the Mulsanne. It looks like they're running side by side through the Parabolica on the last lap in the 1971 video. Both good finds, guys!  :good:

Cool find John  :good:

I can't see it ever being that close hehe but check out the "old school" pit stops!

F1 has come a long way since then
