John Watson in the commentary box during P1

John Watson in the commentary box is brilliant I wish we could have more of him. When Bernie tried pay per view F1 it was John Watson and Ben Edwards in the commentary box and it was a combination that worked for me. With F1 going to Sky is John Watson likely to join MB and DC?

He was very good, straightforward and to the point.  If he's in the comm box sunday I think I'll listen to him and crofty.

Always liked John. When he did a bit of commentary for SPEED years ago he was brilliant.

Wow, just a bit surprised by this adoration.  He used to do F1 for CBC in Canada years ago, and I grew to loath him.  Just a guy who loves to hear his own voice if you ask me.  Drove me nuts - I figured he was writing down the next thing he wanted to say half the race because it sure didn't seem like he was watching it. :DntKnw:

I have to admit I found John a bit boring, but there have certainly been worse commentaters in BBC booths.

A change is as good as a rest they say so it was good to get a different slant, for us old timers, in the coverage of practice by John Watson. Not sure he would be good long term his knowledge of current F1 cars seems limited.

Ant Davidson is able to read what the drivers are actually doing on track better than any other broadcaster at the moment, his up to date technical knowledge and fast instinctive explanations seriously shade Coulthard and Brundle in my opinion.

I also enjoy it when Maurice Hamilton does a turn in the 5Live commentary box, this also gives another angle to coverage.

I thought Watty was ery good yesterday, but years ago found him terrible on Eurosport, so was surprised.  Might give him a listen tomorrow.  Still think I'd love to see Martin Haven give a GP a go in the comm box.
