Newman Haas Withdraw from Indycar
« on: December 02, 2011, 08:37:47 AM »
Newman Haas the team that won titles with Mario and Michael Andretti as well as Nigel Mansell has withdrawn from Indycar racing cititng cost issues.  How sad is it that one of moto racings all time great teams has to bow out in this fashion?

A real shame that such an illustrious name will disappear from the grid.   :(

What a fantastic record they leave behind though, in 29 years racing the team scored 107 wins with 109 pole positions and 8 championships.

With Carl Hass now in his eighties, Paul Newman sadly departed, and their last win in 08, probably better to quit with a fine record than bump along in mid field or worse.

It was great seeing Newman and Haas on the pitwall together.  A fond farewell to a great team.   :good: :good:

Very sad. The cost of replacing all of the equipment (cars and engines) all in one season will probably claim more victims before the start of the season.

Paul Newman is genuinely one of my heroes. A great actor, a fine racing driver, and invented one of the all time outstanding charities.   :good: :good: :good:

Absolutely.  When I was in NA I used to always choose Newman's Own over any other salad dressing.  Great guy, wonderful legacy.
