You could also say that if Schumacher's move had worked and JV's car was damaged and unable to continue as well as Schumacher's, then JV wouldn't have won the title

Vettel's first championship was pretty lucky.  Just ask Alonso!  However, I think that whoever won that particular championship would have won it on luck.
