Perez Crashes Out of Q1 in Monaco.
« on: May 26, 2012, 01:12:15 PM »
Sergio Perez is having a really bad day in Monaco. First he was cut off by Maldonado in FP3. Then he crashed out 4:50 into quali 1. He hit the barriers heavily at the swimming pool. It looked like the steering failed on the left front. That was where Pastor tagged him in practice. The Sauber driver appeared unharmed.

Sergio is really having a tough time out there in Monaco. I hope he does not cause any carnage in the race..

I don't think either incident was Perez's fault. The FP3 incident was clearly a mistake by Maldonado. The quali shunt looked like a steering failure, possibly a result of the FP3 bump from Pastor.

I wondered if the damage to his steering came from the Maldonado incident in fp- it did look like the left front just went.

Perez doesn't have any luck at Monaco does he?

Yeah definitely agree, he is really having tough time while in the Cote d'Azur..

Yeah I know none of the incident was his fault, what I am scared is the one he might be causing might not be his as well..

You know when your time is not well, the hell broke loose and nowhere you can go..

The quali shunt looked like a steering failure, possibly a result of the FP3 bump from Pastor.

Ant Davidson, with the Sky TV analysis team this weekend, thinks differently and put up slo mos of Perez on a clean lap and his shunt lap for two or three corners leading up to his ding. Ant clearly demonstrated that Sergio was offline before he entered the corner that caught him out, no question for me (or Ant) it was driver error.

The front left was wobbling abnormally for a corner or two before the accident. Sergio may well have been off-line and en route to a crash whatever his car, but it looked to me that he'd have been in the wall even if he'd taken the perfect line. One of those rare cases where both mechanical and human factors made a crash inevitable, independently of each other.
