Highbrow Neil ? Not me, I had to look that up on the web, my French is more like Renee's out of 'Allo 'Allo.

Seems like you've been spending a lot of time in Renee's Cafe Ian. :D

Isn't the Chunnel near where you live?   ;)

About 40 miles I think John, bit too far to cycle yet for me.  :P I used to pop over to Bologne a bit when the Seacat was running out of Folkstone though.

I saw Avengers Assemble with a fellow motor racing fan the weekend before last. We saw the 2D version* and found it really, really funny. The dynamics between the heroes were interesting to watch, they (eventually) saved the day in great style and even the supporting actors performed their roles well. Not many films can make you feel a bit sorry for the villain in the end whilst still laughing at it, but this one did. Avez-regarder!

* - I tried a test booth for 3D movies at a local TV store. Visual arts using the current version of 3D look like a bunch of fuzzy brown desaturised blobs to me, even with 3D glasses, and I'm not paying 50% extra for a worse experience, thank you very much.

I finally got to see The Avengers in 2D(!) over the weekend and it has definately raised the bar for Superhero movie genre. Bonus part was I was the only one in the theater for the afternoon matinee! YAY!

It was sweet! I put both feet up on the chairs in front of me for a while, SLOWLY opened my bag of twizzlers, checked the iPad to see if there was any wifi (there wasn't) and belched loudly after a couple huge sips of coke. Almost like being at home but without the distractions!
