Good race Dare, but if you are a fast finisher staying on the tail of the leaders until the final straight makes most sense, let the others set the pace and make the dash at the end.
I reckon the jockey on the leading horse left too much room for Union rags to make a run on the rails, he should have forced him to go the long way round, no doubt the horse's trainer will be having words.  ;)

John, here's the 1973 Belmont by maybe the greatest horse in
the best race ever.Secretariat was always a come from behind
horse.Sham ran 2nd to him in the first 2 Triple Crown races.
Watch what Secretariat does here.

There was a film out called Secretariat a few years back and while
a little sugary it's still worth watching :D

Obviously other trainers didn't fancy putting horses up against Secretariat with only 5 horses starting such a topline race. He certainly left them all for dead, the only one (Sham) to give him a bit of a race ended up last for his trouble.

I think it would have been fantastic if Secretariat and Shergar could have lined up alongside one another, here's a taste of Shergar's finishing. Shame it all ended so badly with villians kidnapping and most probably killing Shergar 18 months later.  :(

I'd never heard of Shergar John, sad ending for a great
horse.Sham never was the same after the Belmont and
ended up dying in a mysterious barn fire.

Wouldn't it be nice to take the top ten horses of all time
and have them in top form in a fantasy race?
