Lorenzo Bandini Trophy
« on: July 18, 2012, 09:07:29 AM »
I wondered why the Lorenzo Bandini Trophy was awarded and it is awarded in the memory of Bandini to an outstanding figure in the world of motor sport. The list of recipients has some well know names check out the link below. So it leaves me wondering how Bruno Senna has been awarded this trophy for being outstanding in 2011?  :DntKnw:
Maybe you can help me out!!

Could it be for managing to stay on the grid so long with no real talent, Andy?  :D

You could very well be right John I do wonder if he would be there at all if it was not for his uncle?  :DntKnw:

He is only getting the prize because his uncle famously said, ''Wait till you see Bruno drive''. Good thing Ayrton is not around to regret such thing...

I have feeling, because such tagged drivers, formula one is not getting the best of the crops..
(Though drivers like Romain and Di Ricardo keep telling me not to loose the faith)

Bruno will be replaced as soon as Bottas is deemed an adequate replacement.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him get a race before the end of the season.

After the performance of Silverstone, Bottas must be presented with an opportunity to drive in this season. Though track were different by far, between British Grand Prix and Williams testing, but the time-sheets does provide a certain truth, he is almost in the same league of Bruno.

But then comes the question of sponsorship, which Bruno have, and essential for Williams re-build after the disastrous last season, probably the only reason Bruno is still getting the backing of the team.

I had a lot of expectation from Bruno this season, but he has failed to deliver it..and in the most pathetic way..

Senna does have the sponsorship from Embratel but Bottas has Wolff on his side which may just swing it a bit.

So who would you have awarded the Bandini Trophy to for 2011, I have been wracking my brain and nobody stands out remember it does not have to be a driver.

I'd have chosen Patrick Head, it was his last year in the front line of F1 and he has contrbuted so much over the years. Heck he even knew when it was the right time time to pass the baton on to others.  ;)

Can we give this to Ron Dennis, who have made Mclaren a worldwide phenomenon and gave so much to the motor Racing.
