Our story in 60 seconds

Footage tracing the cosmic and biological origins of our species.

Doesn't it make you feel humble?

Nice compilation there Wizzo.  :good:

I was just wondering if in days gone by the Essex coast was joined to the North American Continent somewhere around New Mexico, say the Roswell area????   :o :swoon:

- Well Wizzo it would explain how you can vouch for these very early images of the Earth :D
.................and much more besides. ;) :DD :DD

Cool vid, Wizzo!

It made me think of a short I saw years ago. It was made by Saul Bass, a few years after he did the opening credits & montages for the movie Grand Prix.

Both vids got merit of their own. While Wiz posted a nice one minute nutshell of the story of the universe, very informative, a video you can show anywhere and always get a wow feedback from the crowd or the viewers. A great find indeed..

The vid from Cos is something very unique, not everyone will be able to get the depth, but those who know, how, when and where look, they will understand how bigger the picture was drawn through those lines, how greatly the story of mankind with its pros and cons are being described in a satirical manner..

You know what, initially I joined this forum because I though it is a great forum of F1 fans, but over the time I realized, it is a forum of wiser, witty, youthful and open minded people..

It is just great to be around with you people, I am privileged to be among your bunch..

Youthful, I like it BD, thank you very much, I shall jump out of bed in the morning like a spring chicken, and then collapse on the floor wheezing for breath.

If you like scientifically humbling information (I know I do) then a very good read is Bill Bryson's 'A Short History Of Nearly Everything'. Some of you may have read it already, heartily recommended for anyone who has not. I'm not a huge fan of his travelogue stuff but this one's a winner. Here's a choice quote:

“Because we humans are big and clever enough to produce and utilize antibiotics and disinfectants, it is easy to convince ourselves that we have banished bacteria to the fringes of existence. Don't you believe it. Bacteria may not build cities or have interesting social lives, but they will be here when the Sun explodes. This is their planet, and we are on it only because they allow us to be.”

Now that's humbling!

I like theories like what the next 'age' will be.  Age of the dinosaur, age of man...many predict the next age is the age of the insect.  They will certainly survive whatever it is that we do to the earth to kill ourselves off, and if that doesn't happen, they are propagating at a rate that they will over-run us before too long anyhow.   :o
