Newey Drives Two of His Best
« on: November 06, 2012, 01:10:27 PM »
A cool video of Adrian Newey driving two of his designs from two different eras. Twenty years separate his 1990 Leyton House March from his 2010 Red Bull.

I was surprised to see that Newey still uses a drafting board. My favorite line from the video is when Newey flashes a broad grin and says, "There's plenty of room in that cockpit. I don't know what you're all moaning about."

So despite Coulthard's protestations the modern RB6 car is a lot easier to drive on track than the March, that's if you can get it there.  ;)

Not a bad display from a baldy old nerd, there's hope for the rest of us - thanks Adrian. :D

Sorry Lonny as much as I would love to give my vote to Leyton House March, I will cast mine to Red Bull, because for me it is an era defining car, a car that will always be a part of the F1 folklore. When they will be picturing the cars that dominated race circuits over the years, this Red Bull with its distinctive livery will be up there with Marlboro McLaten, British Green Lotus, The Scarlet Ferrari, Streamlined Silver arrow Mercedes, and Rothman's Williams. I don't know why, but I just could not take away the stare from the Red Bull. Its just an amazing machine..

Adrian wasn't scared to push them on, fair play to him.  :good:

Was Newey ever scared of pushing it to the limit?

I think time will tell us the answer is never..
