ALMS/Grand Am 2014 Class Structure Announced
« on: January 04, 2013, 09:34:13 PM »
NASCAR has announced the class structure for the combined ALMS/Grand Am for 2014.

As feared, the LMP1 class will go away. NASCAR obviously wanted to retain its Daytona Prototype in the top tier of the new series. There is no way the 60's tech tube frame/ silhouette body cars could be anything other than rolling chicanes to LMP1 cars. The DPs will compete in a class with the ALMS LMP2 cars, including the DeltaWing. The spec-racer LMPC will remain as a separate class.

The two series' GT classes will remain separate, with the GA GT cars competing with the ALMS Challenge cars.
