Mclaren denies using team orders
« on: May 14, 2013, 07:57:31 PM »
hehe, sure Martin, sure...no team orders  :DD :DD

Don't get me wrong, I think team orders are necessary, and in fact I would have done EXACTLY the same thing.  Only difference - I would have simply admitted that in this case they were the best idea to ensure both cars finish.

Without seeing the state of the tyres we will never know if there were team orders or not. I think the main point from McLarens point of view is 8th and 9th is a shocking result and results need to improve shortly before this season is a total wash out.

It doesn't matter what state the tires were in, 'hold position' is team orders.

If the tyres were okay to be pushed harder it was a blatant team order to affect position.

If the tyres were so shredded they could have failed at any point it was a team order to keep Perez in the points because an extra pit stop would have put him down the field.

The way McLaren normally do things it was probably the second, less sinister reason.

When you're battling over 8th and 9th, does it really matter? Mclaren are now struggling to understand why a good idea on paper (in Computer?) hasn't worked on the track. If they can't get this car to work, they are equally behind for 2014.
