Spa 1961
« on: July 28, 2013, 04:38:56 PM »
Here's a little something to help with the three week wait until the next race at Spa. This was the 1961 edition of the race, on the old, 8 mile long circuit.

The Masta kink was really almost a chicane, a quick left-right at the entrance to Masta Village. It isn't in the video really except for a few shots of cars that seem headed down a straight directly at a 2 or 3 story house. Sir Jackie once said he was sure he could do a faster lap by breathing the throttle there to settle the car, but it was a macho thing to be able to say you went through it flat.

I might have an opinion on this, but I gather I'm not welcome here.

D-type, everyone is welcome at GPW. You won't find a friendlier bunch of F1 fans on the web. Stick around and you will soon have a set of International friends.

I've drove the old Spa circuit hundred's of times in
Grand Prix Legends[my all time favorite]it's a great
old course :good:

A few on here have played Grand Prix Legends and it's
the hardest race game ever :o What's great is seeing the
old tracks as they once were :good:try Nurburgring without
crashing.

d-type, we all have different opinions on here but nobody ever gets slated off for them, as Wiz said, you won't find a friendlier bunch anywhere else on the web. The only one to watch out for is Scott, our very own yodelling Swiss-Canadian, he likes to line hotel rooms with chicken feathers, don't ask me why as he has sworn me to secrecy.

You may say that but the response to my first posting on this forum, on the Quiz thread, was not exactly welcoming - although to say it was slating would be a bit strong.
While there have been some reassuring comments there has been nothing from  @lkjohnson1950

If you expect me to apologize for a comment that did not use your screen name or was even remotely directed at you, not gonna happen. If you browse some of the threads, you will find a bunch of zingers and insults, all in good fun, which we all dish out and accept with good humor. There are a number of fun, funny, smart people on this forum and I assure you, you will enjoy your stay if you choose to do so. The post was purely an expression of surprise directed at the community at large.

I agree with Lonny completely, as because he never intended to make mockery out of anybody with that. I also agree with Ian as well because here we don't make things personal, we respect each other, understand each other because we have undiluted love & passion for motorsports particularly F1.
