Williams test driver Kazuki Nakajima was the day's fastest driver at the Ricardo Tormo track near Valencia, Spain, on Monday. The Japanese test driver was slightly faster than Williams driver Alexander Wurz.
Monday was the first out of a three-day F1 test in Valencia. Only Williams and Spyker attended the test session as other F1 teams will travel to Bahrain for a three-day test starting on Thursday.
Giedo van der Garde completed his first laps for Spyker today. The Dutchman completed 81 laps. He was joined in the morning by Adrian Valles. In the afternoon Spyker race driver Adrian Sutil took over from Valles.
Van der Garde was the fastest out of the three Spyker F1 drivers, although Valles had to work most of his time in the morning at a damp track. For Valles it was important to cover the miles in order to receive his Superlicense.
There was only one red flag being waved in today's day of testing. Nakajima spun his Williams coming out of a corner and got stuck in the gravel.
Testing will continue on Tuesday. Spyker test driver Fairuz Fauzy will make his Formula 1 debut. Spyker's race driver Christijan Albers will join him. At Williams Nakajima will be replaced by Nico Rosberg.
