Tribute to a Hero - Poppy Appeal
« on: November 01, 2013, 11:08:34 PM »
My Father in law John Rowlatt has sadly passed away aged 83. Mrs Wiz and I, along with all the family will greatly miss him - especially our dear Mum.

Dad had exactly the same sense of humour as me and we would often exchange one liners in everyday conversations with a knowing glance to each other.

Dad was also very proud of the time he spent serving his country in the Royal Navy and until his illness prevented him he always attended the Remembrance Sunday service aboard his beloved HMS BELFAST. Dressed in all his finery along with his war medals, it was an event that he never missed. Being an active member of the Belfast Association he often gave up his spare time to give guided tours and lectures aboard this World famous ship.

To continue our fathers support for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal we have set up this page in his honour.

Rest in peace now John.

Our Joker. Our Hero. Our Dad xx

Every one of us owe people like John a great deal, if it wasn't for men and women like him our lives would be greatly different. RIP.

Condolences Wizzo...cherish the memories.  I find myself thinking about my Dad almost daily, and he passed almost 5 years ago.  Mostly brings a little smirk or grin to my face.

Ian is correct. This past Wednesday, 30 October, was the 40th anniversary of my father's death. He was an Army combat veteran of both WW II and Korea. I still think of him and my mother, who passed in 2007, daily.

My sincere condolences to you & Mrs. Wiz on your loss.
