RIP John Button
« on: January 13, 2014, 03:56:34 PM »
From ITV website:

Jenson Button's father John dies aged 70

Formula 1 driver Jenson Button's father has died of a suspected heart attack at the age of 70.John Button, who has been a strong guiding force behind his son's career which includes winning the 2009 world championship, was found dead in his home on the French Riviera by a friend yesterday.

A statement released by the driver's agent read: "It is with great sadness and regret that I can confirm John Button passed away at his home in the South of France on Sunday.

"John's children Jenson, Natasha, Samantha and Tanya and the rest of the family are clearly devastated and ask for their privacy to be respected during this extremely difficult time."

John Button always looked both supportive and humble whenever I saw him at a race.

RIP John my thoughts are with Jenson and the rest of his family.

That's tragic.  Otherwise healthy and so sudden is a hard thing to deal with.  I'm sure Jenson is devastated.  More than any parent in the paddock, I think John Button was the one with the most class.  He will be missed by more than the Buttons.  RIP.

That is very sad indeed. :'( :'(

I will miss his smiling face in paddock, specially when Jenson would climb on the podium.

RIP Mr. John

He was certainly the 'F1 parent I'd most like to go to dinner with'. He surely lived a fun life, loved a drink, owned a bar, maybe enjoyed the finer things in life a little too much. He'll be missed by the whole paddock for sure, but by Jenson most of all. RIP.

A sad loss for the F1 community. He always came across as a friendly, happy fellow.

R.I.P., Mr. Button.

Holy Cow! John Button gone, suddenly I feel mortal.   :'(

RIP John, condolences to all the Button family. I'll sure miss his warmth and pink shirts at GPs.  :(

A massive loss for Jenson and the Formula 1 community as a whole.  He made such a positive contribution to the paddock and Jenson's career.  It will be strange and sad not seeing him there any more.
