Is it just me or is the W05 one of the best looking f1 cars in recent memory? Every detail of it is beautiful. I just hope she is as good on the track as she is to the eyes  :good:

Well, Lewis suffered some sort of failure (possibly an engine) and stuffed it hard into the barrier, so all is not totally well at Merc.

Of recent years, I would say the recent Mclarens do more for me than this year's Merc, but then you're the aero guy PG, so what I see as a silly little bump or flick in the design, you may see as a brilliant and useful element.   :D :D

I've read reports that Hamilton's shunt was the result of a front wing failure. Not a good sign for the new car.

Possibly relevant:

Watching Ted's Notebook on Sky F1 last night, Ted Kravitz pointed out how small and delicate-looking the attachment area between the Mercedes wing and nose was.

It looks like what might be all or part of the front wing is sliding down the track behind the car. The nose of the car appears to hop, like it's running over something, just as it passes behind the commentator.

Good find  :good: Just before it goes behind the commentator there's a flash from the front left area - probably the wing failing and getting run over.

The reports that I've read all say that it was a front wing failure, and not a problem with the engine.

The left front is locked and pointing left approaching a right turn. I thought when I first saw images that it was a suspension failure but this definitely seems to show a piece of front wing going under the wheel.
