Maldonado does it again.

If he was not a pay driver would he get a drive?
I doubt it very much.

Ifhe was driving in NASCAR he wouldn't have a
ride now. Can't remember who but a current top
driver said looks are considered in sponsors now
days and Pastor would be left in the outside
where he belongs.

And again!
A five second penalty for causing yet another collision.  :DntKnw:

Surely there are more qualified drivers who can also bring sponsor cash to the table who can replace this idiot.

I agree and this is the most worrying thing. We have seen drivers that try too hard (Grosjean comes to mind) but they recognise their faults and get better. Maldonado doesn't ever accept that he is at fault!

Maldonado will be rueing the day he decided to leave Williams - and Lotus will be feeling the same and wondering if they really needed that cash after all...

Williams, on the other hand will be looking at Massa and thinking - 'Yup, not the best out there - but hey, let's look on the bright side... we could have been stuck with Pastor...'
The lead car is unique, except for the one behind it which is identical.

If the FIA could penalize the sponsors of pay drivers, then they'd make sure they're backing drivers who know what they're doing!

You're right Andy B...it was an insult to proper idiots. My apologies.

Lotus must be thinking that they really dropped the ball and let Kimi get away. If only they had kept up his pay, he may have stayed.

Then again, they way Ferrari are this season Kimi may be rethinking it himself.
But back to the string....Pastor is still a dangerous driver and should not be in an F1 car.
Or any car for that matter.

If we were going by the standards of previous decades, he'd be nowhere near the worst driver to have graced a Formula 1 cockpit, but he look so bad now because standards are so high.

The thing about Maldonado is that he never seems to learn from his mistakes.  It's okay to go off the road, make errors, and such the like from time to time, all the drivers make small mistakes, but Maldonado makes big mistakes at crucial moments, and seems to like the necessary drive and motivation to improve a bad car.  He puts all the responsibility onto the team, and when there's a coming together, it's never his fault either.  This is why I think he, rightly, cops so much flak.

He wouldn't be in the car if Lotus didn't need the cash, but he has so much sponsorship that other candidates won't have a chance unless or until Lotus's finances become healthier.

Great result this week the car would not start on the grid and he never got out the pit lane.  :good:

Best race of the season with him not there.

He would be done in any other series short of a local stock car track where he would have to field his own car.
Life is short - live each day to the fullest.
