Jenson to stay another year at Mclaren?
« on: August 01, 2014, 02:52:56 PM »
Honda's coming next year.  That could mean that Button would be an advantage, if Mclaren are planning on finding a long term driver.  Though I'm not sure how much of an advantage there is not changing both drivers at the same time.  The cars today are harder to differentiate team to team.  In fact a driver might have more of a hurdle learning how the team works (where the bathroom is) than learning a car when coming from another F1 team.  Magnussen to pack his bags, or both of them?

I can't see Honda wanting to put another Japanese driver in the car, at least not in its first comeback year.  As for their own drivers, you could argue that they might opt or lobby for an Indycar driver to move over to F1...and they might have a better idea from telemetry who the best is than a typical F1 team scout.
