A F1 moment etched in your memory

What's your favorite F1 memory?Mine has to
be Fisichella's 2nd place to Kimi's win at Spa.

Fisi with no kers gave all Kimi wanted only to come
up short.Never have been able to find a driver I liked as
much as Ginacarlo.

Always liked Spa 2000 where Hakkinen uses Zonta to pass Schumacher

Webber passing Alonso at Spa 2011. Superb driving by both of them.

Friday, 22 September 2000. The first time I saw F1 cars on track at Indy.   :yahoo:

Jeri beat me to it, so I'll have to go with my walk through Monza park in 2006 as first practice was starting, hearing the engines and then getting the first view of an F1 car as it came out of the Parabolica.  Schumacher won the race and I ran with the Tifosi around the Parabolica (my seat was at the beginning of it).  Unfortunately the podium faced the other way down the straight, but still, the moment was amazing.

Long Beach 1980 (I think). Was getting ready to go to my seat at the turn after the hairpin when my friend burst into the motorhome and said "do you want to be a grid marshal?". This lead me to being credentialed for all the remaining LB and Vegas races. Nothing like walking to the front of a group of people trying to catch a glimpse of F1 behind the scenes, flashing your plastic and getting through the gate. Also get to take photos without messing with the catch fence. If Gilles had stuck his hand out, I could have high fived him as he went by. :D :D

I thought Dare meant on track moments. I'd have to go with Scott on this then, walking through Monza park in 2010 and hearing the screaming engines on the start/finish straight live for the first time and the the wonderful pain sitting in the main grandstand as they hurtled past. A weekend never to be forgotten.

And hanging out with me of course  ;) ;)  Kidding...I won't forget 2010 either Ian, it was a pleasure to spend the race weekend with you, and even be a bit of your tour guide.

The 'tour guide' bit was appreciated Scott, some great vantage points you showed me, tv just doesn't do justice to the way they go through the chicanes does it. Was good meeting you.  :good:

Arriving at any circuit, hearing the racing engines and getting a whiff of Castrol R.  Whether a grand prix or a banger meeting, the adrenalin rush is the same.

On TV: Keke Rosberg holding up Piquet to give Mansell his first win at Brands Hatch in 1985.

And a negative memory: Mansell's tyre letting go at Adelaide in 1986.
(And before you say, my enthusiasm for Mansell was limited to on track)

On the negative side, watching A.B.C.'s Wide World of Sports and watching Jim McKay announce that they had received word that Jim Clark had been killed an accident at the Hockenheim.

The one fine morning from a friend's computer while searching the word "F1 forum" and the finding this wonderful wonderland by Wizzo called GPWizard was and is the best F1 memory I have till now. Only will be beaten if I could join an F1 race, preferably with someone from here.  :D

The strongest memory etched in my mind is Damon Hill winning the world title in 1996 on BBC television on the 8am repeat, and Murray Walker's lump in the throat comment when he crossed the line.  Truly unforgettable.
