Keep Button at Mclaren
« on: November 07, 2014, 08:24:34 AM »
Stop the presses!  Hamilton has something to say.  If only he were in a position to sway the heads at Mclaren...though I should admit, I agree with him.  If they actually have Alonso, then the ONLY thing they need to do is come up with a car worthy of him.  The second driver is just icing on the cake.  You may as well keep the one with the most experience.

Not only that they would also find out if Nando is as good as his pay will be.  ;)
Jens has always been able to take it to his teammate - Hamilton knows that well.  :D

If it were me, I'd have Alonso and Button in the team as well.  Magnussen hasn't done any better than Perez did last year in my opinion.  Certainly not well enough for the high standards demanded by McLaren.

That is the point, isn't it?  If the choice is simply between Magnussen and Button, even if one of them are ahead slightly in points or poles, Magnussen has not marched in and dominated a driver who many consider only above average.  If he hasn't done that, then at least appreciate Button's technical experience, race craft, and let's bring up the unspeakable - Button rules when it comes to what the marketing guys want selling the brand, be it Mclaren cars themselves, or any of their sponsors.

Exactly Scott.  Button has far superior race craft to Magnussen.  You need only look at the points tally to see that.  If Honda were to get it right, McLaren would stand a lot more chance of going higher up the constructors' table with Alonso and Button in the cars than Alonso and Magnussen in my opinion.
