Renault and Ferrari vs Honda
« on: January 06, 2015, 08:23:58 AM »
So Ferrari and Renault are allowed to develop their engine in-season, while Honda can't?  Just love the even playing field that is F1.  Is it any wonder that there is a revolving door for teams and manufacturer's to come and go through?

Mercedes too can keep developing, so the gap between them and the rest may widen rather than close.  ;)

F1 has always been dog eat dog, it's why we love it so - ain't it?  :D

Isn't the FIA wonderful?

It's almost like the nuts in charge say here's a rule
that the fans will hate and will run a few teams off.

Mercedes expects to have an extra 50 BHP to start the season.

Honda to meet with the FIA about the controversy on Monday.  They would probably have more pull if they had more than one team, and if they hadn't teamed up with Mclaren and Denis, who the FIA have such a lousy history with.  I think they're screwed.

If Honda threatens the nuclear button, they have a lot of power. Should they leave, their team (McLaren) would automatically be prevented from scoring a single point in the championship and would be competing for honour and Bernie money only. That would be a severe embarrassment to the FIA even if it doesn't like McLaren, and makes it more likely that it will have Force India (the loudest relatively stable team) in the Strategy Group again in 2016. Plus it will scare Red Bull as it does not produce its own engines and Renault have made noises about leaving (further meaning that Lotus getting into the Strategy Group wouldn't solve the FIA's troubles from that direction). Williams wouldn't exactly be happy either...
