James Best Dies
« on: April 08, 2015, 12:40:28 PM »
James Best, known to car buff as Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane in The Dukes of Hazzard, has died at the age of 88.

While best known as an actor, Best was also a director, acting teacher, singer and painter. He ran a well respected acting school in L.A. Quentin Tarantino was a student of his. He was also a veteran of World War II.

Best known today for comedy, he was also a fine dramatic actor. a favorite of mine was his staring role in and episode of The Twilight Zone called The Last Rites of Jeff Myrtlebank.

Here's a scene of Sheriff Rosco visiting the "Hazzard County Car Wash."

R.I.P., Mr. Best. Your legacy of film will live on.

“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”

Wow, I didn't know all that about him - and the Terantino link is interesting as well.  Loved him in Dukes of course.

RIP Mr Best
