Micheal Schumacher sells his house & jet
« on: May 11, 2015, 04:12:29 PM »
Though not a surprise, but surely a heart-wrecking news, surely the fortunes of the famous driver is being stretched to the limit..

Didn't sound like finances are an issue.  The jet was sold because they simply don't need it anymore.  MS was the only family member with so many international commitments and he doesn't have those anymore.  The house was a planned sale before the accident.

I would be very surprised if his investments weren't enough to sustain his recovery and any care he may need to the end of his life even if he lives to 100.  I believe he was a very wise investor.

Yeah, I should think the last thing the Schumachers want is a ski chalet.  Even if the sale wasn't planned, I can't imagine them holding on to it.

As for the jet, if it's collecting dust, then why not sell it?  When MS is ready to fly again, they'll get a new one.

In the off chance the Schumachers are in need, endorsement deals would be pretty easy to get.

I think it's a realization that MS won't see
the improvement that his family and fans  had
hoped for.

Prices on jets are such that even if Michael recovered to the point where he wanted to resume his usual super-busy schedule in a years' time, it would be cheaper to sell now and get a better jet when he's ready than keep the jet, maintain it and continue its use next year. And let's face it, we can excuse him not wanting to jump straight from "convalescing at home" to "jumping on planes multiple times a week", which is realistically what you need to justify owning a non-specialised plane. (Depending on the nature of Michael's recovery and how he plans to spend the rest of his life, he may want a specially-kitted-out plane later, even if it's not much used).

This and the house are evidence that the Schumacher family are canny investors.

based yours.

My opinion was based on fantasy, not any serious thought. I was questioning what your opinion that his "improvement" was not as expected was based upon. Fantasy also? Or, based on some personally attained factual information?

If I could just try a little mediation between the two of you.

Dare perhaps I could suggest substituting "hasn't" in place of your "won't", I think it becomes something others may more readily agree with - well I do anyways.

I think it's a realization that MS won't hasn't seen
the improvement that his family and fans  had
hoped for.

Now isn't that better than   :P |-(  |-(    Schumi wouldn't want us, his fans, to fall out.  :(

This is the latest I have read on his recovery.

Speculation about why the family is selling this or that is irrelevant and certainly, at this point, nothing short of gossip.

I think we all wish Michael well, also Jules Bianchi.

Absolutely. One of the all times greats and a young driver of great promise.
