This is really sad news. Hope Justin recovers well from this and that famous Yorkshire grit helps him through.

Was watching when this happened. Sage Karam spun while leading (apparently everyone was running as trimmed out as possible as there were a number of solo spins) and hit the wall. A piece of his side pod (or rear bumper, hard to say) bounced off the wall and struck Justin, then flew at least 10 feet in the air. It was a very hard hit and Justin immediately drove straight into the barrier, so he probably was already unconscious. It is incredible how all the stuff they've added for safety keeps hurting people.

Very very sad, Justin was one of the good guys.

Very sad news. He was a fine driver.

The TV chattering class is already. CNN's morning idiot Chris Cuomo (who wouldn't know a race car if it hit him in the backside) is already calling for canopies for all open wheel cars. I guess he's never seen an open cockpit sports car.

R.I.P., Justin. You left us far too soon.

I just received this from Paul Zimmermann over at Motorsport Collector.

Justin leaves behind his wife Julia and two small daughters. The Wilson Children's Fund has been established to assist Justin's girls. Send donations to:

Wilson Children's Fund
C/O INDYCAR
4551 West 16th Street
Indianapolis, IN 46222

According to Wilson's brother Stefan, organ donations from Justin have helped to save six lives. A generous gift from a hero and his family which will be appreciated for years to come.

That is an amazing thing to hear.  Triumph out of tragedy.

I know that I've signed up to be an organ donar, and made my family well aware of my wishes.

Fans have placed memorials to Wilson at the 16th Street & Georgetown Road gate to The Speedway.

Justin is to be buried on September 10th, I believe somewhere close to Silverstone.
