Strategy Group agrees to allow year-old engines for customers
« on: September 17, 2015, 07:32:01 PM »
Shall we begin calling the midfield customer teams the 'leftovers'?

Surely that defies the rule about customer engines having to be same spec as works teams that Ali talked about a while ago?

But worse than that, according to the crew at The Judge, Bernie and Jean have hijacked the Strategy Group meeting and forced some ridiculous cost cutting measures including banning any and all wind tunnel testing from 2017 on.

With the stroke of a pen or maybe a pair of arms held up in a conference room somewhere in Singapore, the FIA and FOM have binned hundreds of millions of dollars worth of wind tunnels at various team bases.  How's that for cost cutting?  We'll just shut down one of your biggest team assets.  If this is true, and their isn't a revolt on a scale that even Bernie can't dismiss, then it could be the last straw.

Once again I'll say it, the problem in F1 isn't that there is a shortage of money, the problem is that it is leaving the sport, primarily through Bernie and CVC.

It does break that rule, which is probably why the FIA called shenenigans on the whole thing!
