David Bowie 1947 - 2016
« on: January 11, 2016, 02:54:29 PM »
Music legend David Bowie has passed away as the result of an 18-month battle with cancer. Bowie might not have been relevant in today's Billboard or download charts, but he was a true creative artist who always tried to re-invent himself and his music will live on.

RIP David, a great loss to the music industry.

I was shocked he had cancer...I had never heard that until today.  I saw him live once, and though it was a stadium and I was 75m or so away from the stage, it was a fantastic show, no...really theatre.  Didn't love all his music, but a good pile of it I did.

RIP Mr. Bowie

He was such an incredible musical talent. He pioneered so many musical trends over the last four decades with his constantly evolving styles.

He also was a fine actor with many great film credits. My favorite film of his was the vampire movie The Hunger.

I'm sure most of us thought of a particular song of his when we heard the sad news. This was the one I thought of:

R.I.P., David. We will not see your like again.

A great shame such a musical legend has gone, RIP Davie Jones.

The song of his I love the most is 'A Memory of a Free Festival' which was a track on his 2nd David Bowie album in 1969 - later retitled 'Space Oddity' after the chart success of that song.

However the song that sprang to my mind when I heard the news:-

Such a huge loss and so unexpected too.  It really caught me by surprise.  I'll remember him for so many of his records, but especially for his performance in Labyrinth, a film which I love.  A wonderful performer who has left us too soon.

Great choice of video Wizzo :).
