Great Auto Recall Understatement
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:59:10 PM »
I suppose part of public relations is to try to understate your problems.

Subaru has issued a recall for its 2016 & 2017 Legacy & Outback models. It seems there is a problem that can cause the steering wheel to cease having any influence on the front wheels. Here is Subaru's message about it:

“The steering column in your vehicle may not have been manufactured to specification. An incorrect tool setting during the manufacturing process may have resulted in improper machining of one of the steering column shafts. If this condition exists, turning the steering wheel may have no effect on the direction of the wheels, increasing the risk of a crash.”

I guess that loosing steering control might increase one's risk of a crash a teeny bit.  :swoon:

Could be a tiny bit scary couldn't it.  :o
An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.

Man, talk about understatement...hilarious Cos   :DD :DD :DD

I went looking for more of the story, and to give them credit, they have a dire warning in much larger font to not drive until the car has been inspected.

I'm sure some of the people I see on the road already have this problem.
