Alonso explains his "Can I stop" moment
« on: June 14, 2016, 07:35:39 AM »
I'm glad I found this because during the race I remember hearing that and immediately thought he was moaning about the slow pace or a ready-to-blow Honda.  I hadn't realized he was on 55lap old tires  :swoon:

I think it's McLaren rather than Ferrari who needs to review their tyre strategy, just what was the point of Alonso staying out for so long on those tyres when he was out of the points?

How long do you cling to the hope that someone ahead of you will drop out moving you into the points?
We expect this sort of thing from teams fighting for survival at the back of the pack, but is trying to luck into just one point really what we can now expect from the vastly resourced & experienced McLaren team?

Can never have too much data.  If you're not going to score points, why not see just how far you can push your tires?  It might come in very useful later when they can skip a pit stop to leap frog a few other cars for points.
