Name the Driver
« on: March 10, 2007, 05:53:44 PM »
Awhile back I ran across an article on Jody Scheckter and
he talked about a driver who he said was the worst rase
driver he knew.He said they almost got hit by a train on
the way to a race and his pitcrew said part of a pitstop
was removing the grass and dirt from the tires and
bodywork :D
Stig, any idea who he was talking about?Forgot his name
and can't find the article anywhere.Has to be a 70's driver

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QRjq1Vs3qA&search=silverstone%20f1

The drivers that crashed were.

Jody Scheckter,Mike Hailwood, Jochen Mass, Carlos Pace, Jean Pierre Beltoise, Andrea de Adamich, the late Roger Williamson, George Follmer, Jackie Oliver, Graham McRae & David Purley

David Purley I think might be the man,but i will go on checking, and get in touch with Wizard if i cant find anything more

It's not Purley for he was an up and coming driver before he died, didn't he hit the track worker and the workers fire extinguisher hit him in the head.See
the vid and it's pretty grusome

One I'm talking about,Jody rode with him going to the USGP and a train
almost hit them,he spun off the road, and Jody called him the worst
driver in the world and said he'd never ride with him again

That was sheer carnage was'nt it, did you see the guy trying to get out of his car even before it had stopped, can't say I blame him tho', I'd want to get out of there pdq too
An aircraft landing is just a controlled crash.
