The Beast of Turin Takes to the Road
« on: November 09, 2016, 01:27:00 PM »
The 28.5 liter, 1729 cubic inch 1911 Fiat S76, the Beast of Turin, drives 150 miles over the road to Goodwood.

"In top gear, at 1,000 rpm, this car is doing 128 mph," reports owner Duncan Pittaway, who also observes that “the poor thing doesn’t like going too slow.”

My favorite scene is the car idling in a gas station with flames belching out of the exhausts (which exit out the side of the bonnet) while they adjust the carburetor with a Swiss Army knife.

“You can search the world over for the finer things, but you won't find a match for the American road and the creatures that live on it.”

That's an insane beast.  I love the bit where he said that upon hearing the car people would stop and watch the car go by only to have their faces singed and hats blown off by the side exhaust.   :DD :DD
