Was I 'In The Zone' or ...
« on: March 26, 2018, 11:17:07 PM »
Hi folks!

Just thinking back to the race yesterday and can't recall an obvious void in missing the grid girls or witnessing the "grid kids".  Was I simply 'In The Zone' ... or am I going mad???

All the best,
Cal :)

The only reason I noticed was that the grid walk spoke to Nico Hulkenberg and joked with him that he seemed to find his position just fine despite being directed there by an electronic board.

I wonder if there was an issue with the local organiser being able to provide the necessary "grid kids" given that, to the best of my knowledge, the FIA hasn't got round to providing organisers with the regulations they are requiring them to follow for selecting them yet?

I didn't miss them, but to be fair, with the timing of the Aus race, I only woke up minutes before the lights went out.

Kind of like with Scott, I set up my recording for the race only which started minutes before the race so I missed all the build up.

No good asking me either, I got up 10mins before the start which was billed at 6.05am in Britain.

It was only when the race finished and I glanced at the clock to find the race had apparently only lasted about 40 mins - URGH???  how can that be.

Turns out due to change to BST overnight I actually got up at 4.55 not 5.55am that I thought. ::)  :fool:

I hadn't noticed the grid girls in years anyway.

There was no way for me to tell. All I had was ESPN. Godzilla could have stomped through Albert Park & they would have missed it.

Although I haven't viewed any ESPN coverage, can I take a wild guess in saying that if they covered World Snooker, the cameras would be pointed to the legs of the table and discussions would involve which type of tree the wood came from and how many chairs are fitted in the venue ... am I close?   :DD

They do a great job covering The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

For some reason they decided to start the race at 15 after.

That's part of Liberty's 'new F1'.  For whatever reason they want the races starting at quarter after.

I think it's part of the 'Turner Time' strategy that TBS used to use in Canada and the USA, starting their shows 5 minutes later than everyone else meant you could switch over and not miss anything.
