They also have engine mapping settings (at the peril of fuel mileage) to play with. But as I said in another post, they just need to lose the massive aero shadow and then get rid of gimmicks like drs and stop even contemplating more.
Yup. The real "sport" of auto racing is coming to a close. It's happened to every other venue before, NASCAR, Indy cars, and sports cars.......no longer the proving grounds for the best engineers, teams and drivers. It's now simply an orchestrated "show", with all the gimmicks they can come up with to keep the "show" close and exciting for the uninitiateds' enjoyment, and, more importantly, the sponsors exposure, throughout the field.
'T'is a shame. I relish the fact that I was around enjoying the sport in what I consider it's best days ('60s and '70s; I'm sure they were just as enjoyable prior) since, even tho' leaders finished laps apart......
