Weaver Plc has been awarded a £3m contract to create a world class engineering facility and office headquarters for a Formula One racing car engine designer.
The project is for Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines Ltd, the company responsible for the design, development and production of the company's F1 engines.
Due for completion at Christmas, the fast-track first phase of the 4,200m sq project at Wood Park, Brixworth, Northamptonshire, involves the creation of a race truck park, stripping-out an existing workshop to build a new state-of-the-art engine testing facility and the installation of mezzanine floors for meeting rooms and office space.
Mercedes-Benz HPE employs 450 designers, engineers and support staff at several locations in Brixworth.
Peter Lightfoot, joint managing director at Weaver, which is based in Bromsgrove, said: "It is very exciting to be working with one of F1's most successful engineering teams, particularly one which is synonymous with high standards."
