Alfa Romeo returning to F1 in 2024?
« on: May 29, 2023, 08:49:40 PM »
Apparently with their deal running out at Sauber at the end of 2023, Alfa Romeo will be sponsoring Haas in 2024.

If this sounds confusing, let me tell you a tale about Lotus...

20 million doesn't buy much any more.

I hope, if it does happen, that they keep the Haas name.

On the other hand, it could be worse. They could rename them Guardians.

Since the Rock and Roll HOF is in Cleveland, I'm surprised they aren't the Cleveland Rockers.

There are 2 answers to that. First, they are art deco statues on the Hope Memorial Bridge in Cleveland. They are called "The Guardians of Traffic" and date from 1932. The second is the a men's roller derby team based in Cleveland. They sued the MLB team for copyright infringement and reached an out of court settlement.

The way the baseball team ended up with the name was that they stupidly announced that they were going to change the name long before they came up with a new one. Speculators registered any and all internet addresses for names that would have made sense (The Tribe, Cleveland Spiders, etc.) They had to scrounge around for anything with even a vague connection to the city.
