Suppose the top 6 finishers from the last Gp get no DRS at all during next race Quali sessions (GPs only Sprints excluded).  Could this spanner in the works close the field up & bring more overtaking from cars out of position on start grid?

Could it also prevent FIA from tinkering with tech regs, usually having unexpected consequences, in their attempt to have closer racing?

I thought at first all points scorers from last race should be included, however this seemed a little too draconian for some back of the grid outfits IMHO.

....but what does anyone else think????????

It sounds like a great way to sandbag the successful cars, and I voted 'yes it could work'.

The main concern I see is if a slower car is getting a tow down the straight, the DRS vs non DRS means we're looking at a passing situation with both cars on a hot lap during qualifying.  The question becomes is this more exciting in qualifying, or more dangerous?

No. The cars that got it right shouldn't be penalized.

It would be worth trying. Similar but not as drastic as reverse grid order. It strikes me as being a short term version of how many sports give first draft pick to the teams that finish in last place.

The option I think is needed isn't there.

Ban DRS for everyone.

If that is truly impossible, then leave it well alone. There's already too much inequality and too much removal of racing skill going on. It's reached the point where if a Ferrari or Mercedes (let alone Red Bull) starts at the back, I treat it similarly to if they'd started in position because there's no point in midfielders defending most of the time and they know it. Besides, the difference in closing speeds differential DRS use would make would be rather dangerous (we already have enough problems with this on fast laps versus cooling-off laps).

The FIA will tinker with the racing regardless, and I think you know why I believe that by now.
