Silverstone
« on: July 08, 2023, 04:21:46 AM »
Williams is celebrating their 800th GP and it seems they have made a major breakthrough with their latest update, at least for Silverstone. Albon and Sargeant finished FP2 3rd and 5th fastest. Big smiles in the Williams garage. Don't know if it will equally benefit race pace, or extend to other venues, but for now Williams is back baby.

In other news the pace Mercedes had at Canada may have been a fluke. They were nowhere last week and have been unable to crack the top 10 this week. Qually should be very interesting tomorrow, with a bit of a shakeup in the order possibly.

Yeah Williams pace looks good Lonny, not to put a spanner in the works though what fuel was that in the car?  ;)

Most of the big teams seemed to be concentrating on long run pace from what I could deduce from FP1 & 2. Merc seemed to have the edge over Ferrari & Aston from what I could see & were almost on Red Bull pace.

Be an interesting Quali though & no doubt one or both of Williams could easily make Q3.  :yahoo:

According to the F1 TV tech people Williams was carrying more fuel than R/B on their fastest laps. About 7 kilos more.

Albon must have been fuelled for the race in Q3 then.   :tease: :-*

Look out for Williams - and McLaren - in the race. Typical British weather has been forecast :D

Even in the dry both Williams and McLaren shone.

It was posited that Williams lack of aero cost them more in the mixed conditions than other teams. Both cars came forward in the dry race. They're not ready to run at the front, but they're not dead last, seconds behind the field either.  :good: :good:

Totally enjoyed the race. Good on you Lando, If McLaren gives you more power I'm sure it won't be too long before you're om the top step. Who was that geezer crippling the National Anthem ?

I forgot, though Channel 4 did interview him (he's also some sort of actor). I always worry when artists say in advance that they're going to do an experimental interpretation of the British National Anthem, as that piece of music simply does not lend itself to the types of experimentation artists have in mind. The Belgian national anthem can just about get away with being rendered in a "jazzy" way; the British national anthem is plain, unadorned, march-like for a reason.

It is Ren and Stimpy performing 'Royal Canadian Mounted Yaksmen' to the tune of God Save the Queen (King... but it was during QEII's reign)
