Now that's a novel idea!
« on: December 15, 2023, 08:26:12 PM »
This morning I was reading about Jensen Button returning to racing at age 44 in WEC Hypercars when I came across this paragraph: -

Button's announcement comes as sportscar racing is experiencing a renaissance, with several major car manufacturers returning thanks to recent design rules allowing teams to experiment with performance philosophies, while other series impose strict limits.

So how about F1 adopting that attitude and give teams some more scope to experiment with design and performance?

I think I shall be tuning into WEC in 2024.

You're right Andy 2024 WEC is going to be a big deal, 14 manufacturers will be represented across both classes – the highest in FIA WEC history.

Manufacturers competing in WEC next year include Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Cadillac, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Isotta Fraschini, Lamborghini, Lexus, McLaren, Peugeot, Porsche and Toyota. - Wow, just Wow!  :swoon:

Mind you it's been a slow build with all credit the new Hyper class to improve the field from either Audi or Toyota total dominance for year after year.

Not sure F1 is in that state at the mo, regs changes changes for 26 should refresh F1 somewhat, for good or ill, but it's a good point that 24 looks a vintage year for WEC & Le Mans.
